Hello, my beautiful sisters!
How are you doing today? I hope this message finds you feeling strong, radiant, and ready to tackle your goals.
Today, I want to talk about affirmations. You know, those positive statements we recite to ourselves in the mirror, like “I am confident,” or “I am capable of achieving my dreams.”
Affirmations can be powerful tools for self-growth and healing.
But here’s the thing: there are some hard truths about affirmations that many people don’t tell you. If we’re not careful, we can end up frustrated, disappointed, or even more discouraged than when we started.
Today, we’re diving into five ugly truths about affirmations and how to navigate them so they actually work for you, not against you.
You Still Have to do the Work
Sisters, let’s be real.
Have you ever repeated an affirmation like your life depended on it and felt… nothing?
Maybe you’ve been saying, “I am abundant,” but your bank account isn’t reflecting that energy. Or perhaps you’ve been affirming, “I am strong,” but deep down, you still feel weak or defeated.
It’s okay to feel that way.
Affirmations alone can’t fix everything, and no one talks about the work that has to go alongside them.
But that doesn’t mean they’re useless. It means we need to approach them with intention and understanding.
The Five Ugly Truths About Affirmations
- They Don’t Work Without Action:
Saying “I am successful” while sitting on the couch watching TV won’t bring success into your life. Affirmations need to be backed up by action. They set your mindset, but you still have to show up and do the work. - They Can Feel Like Lies at First:
If you’re struggling with self-worth and you say, “I am worthy,” your inner voice might scream, “No, you’re not!” This disconnect happens because affirmations often highlight where you want to be, not where you currently are. - They Can Mask Deeper Issues:
Sometimes, affirmations become a Band-Aid for unresolved pain. If you’re constantly affirming “I am happy,” but you haven’t addressed what’s making you unhappy, those words can feel hollow. - Repetition Without Emotion Falls Flat:
Simply repeating an affirmation without feeling or believing it doesn’t engage your brain or your spirit. For affirmations to be effective, you have to connect emotionally and visualize the outcome. - They Take Time to Work:
Affirmations won’t bring instant results. Changing your mindset is a process, and it takes consistency and patience. If you’re expecting overnight miracles, you might feel like they’ve failed you.
Practical Steps to Make Affirmations Work for You
- Pair Affirmations with Goals:
Connect your affirmations to specific actions. For example, if you’re affirming, “I am healthy,” back it up by committing to drink more water, exercise, or eat balanced meals. - Start Small and Build Belief:
If big affirmations feel like lies, try more attainable ones. Instead of “I am a millionaire,” say, “I am learning to manage my money wisely.” As you see progress, you can expand your affirmations. - Use “I Am Becoming” Statements:
If affirming where you are doesn’t resonate, focus on where you’re headed. For example, “I am becoming more confident each day.” This keeps you in alignment with growth. - Anchor Affirmations to Your Daily Routine:
Tie affirmations to actions like brushing your teeth, making your bed, or journaling. Repeating them during these moments makes them a seamless part of your day. - Be Patient and Persistent:
Understand that mindset shifts take time. Commit to your affirmations for at least 30 days, and pay attention to how your mindset and actions evolve.

Encouragement
Sisters, affirmations are powerful, but they’re not magic spells.
They’re tools to help you shift your mindset, build belief in yourself, and align your actions with your goals.
Remember, the magic lies not in the words but in the work you’re willing to put behind them.
You are not failing if affirmations feel hard or if results take time. You are growing, and growth is never linear.
Trust yourself, trust the process, and keep showing up for your dreams.
Call to Action
This week, I want you to write three affirmations that feel authentic to you.
Start with small, achievable ones that align with your current goals. Then, pair each affirmation with a specific action you can take.
Share one of your affirmations with me, and let’s cheer each other on in this journey of growth and self-love.
You’ve got this, my beautiful sisters. Your words, your mindset, and your actions have the power to create a life you love.
With love and light,
