When Relationships Hurt

Hello, my beautiful sisters.

If you’re here today, it’s because your heart is hurting. Maybe it’s from a breakup, a betrayal, or even feeling unappreciated by someone you care deeply about. Whatever it is, I want you to know that your pain is valid, and you don’t have to carry it alone.

Let’s talk about how we can lean on God to mend our hearts when relationships hurt.

Acknowledge and Empathize

When someone we care about hurts us, it feels like a piece of us has been broken.

You might be asking yourself, “Why did they treat me this way?” or “What did I do to deserve this?” And if you’re honest, you might even feel anger—at them, at yourself, or even at God.

That’s okay. God can handle your questions, your frustration, and your tears. He’s not afraid of your pain, and neither am I. I’ve been there, too. That heavy feeling of disappointment, wondering if your heart will ever feel whole again.

Explore Missteps and Misplaced Focus

When relationships hurt us, it’s natural to want answers or even closure.

Maybe you’ve tried to fix things yourself—sending one more text, explaining yourself again, or even holding on to a relationship that’s no longer serving you. Or maybe you’ve turned inward, blaming yourself and believing the lie that you’re not enough.

But here’s the truth: no human relationship can fill the space in your heart that belongs to God.

When we put all our hope in people, we set ourselves up for heartbreak because people, like us, are imperfect.

Bring God into the Solution

Sister, let me remind you of this beautiful truth: God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He knows your pain, and He is the ultimate healer of hearts. Bring your hurt to Him. Pray and say, “Lord, I’m broken, but I trust You to make me whole again. Mend the pieces of my heart in ways only You can.”

Then, let Him work.

That might mean taking time to grieve, to reflect, or to simply rest in His presence. Let Him remind you of your worth and your identity as His beloved daughter. And as He heals you, trust that He’s also preparing you for relationships that reflect His love for you.

Call to Uplifting Action

Today, I want to encourage you to take one small step toward healing.

Maybe it’s journaling your feelings, spending time in prayer, or even reaching out to someone who can support you through this season. Whatever you do, let it be rooted in God’s love for you.

Remember, God’s love is unchanging and unconditional. When people let you down, He never will. Trust Him to mend your heart and lead you toward the relationships that uplift and honor you.

You are worthy of love, and God is writing a story for your life that’s better than anything you can imagine. Trust Him with your heart, and watch Him restore it.
